1621 Sanct Gallen Talerklippe R2 silver 27,42 g similar to the "bear taler" from PaulCT on the previous page, but produced on a square planchet a bit weak in the center and traces of mounting (color change) in one of the upper corners, for a rest a gem

Hi Everyone! I'm back (more or less). Work has been keeping me very busy so I haven't been as active here. I see a lot of wonderful material was posted in my hiatus - thank you all for sharing and keeping this thread going. @Zohar, WCG, Paul, and 1c5d - it's always a pleasure to see pieces of your collections. @Shammalamma nice thalers! I don't mean to frighten you, but double check the latter two Nurnberg thalers, details look a bit too mushy, to my eyes at least. How about we rekindle this thread a bit. Let me pour some gasoline to get this fire going 1897 Yen (YR 36) - MS63 1803 Netherlands Rijksdaalder (Utrecht) 1614 Teutonic Order 2 Thaler R! 1847 Prussia 2 Thaler RRR! Key Date 1855 Anhalt Bernburg 2 Thaler R!

The German modern 2T are my favorites. They are very large coins (37g and 41mm) and each carries a lot of character and oomph when held in hand.
In higher grades they are simply works of art (I love the different coats of arms). If only they didn't cost an arm and a leg, especially for the smaller less known states...

Nice, that's a pretty rare issue - you don't see too many of these floating around. Where'd you pick this one up? I haven't run across one of these yet.

Very nice Doppeltaler Cableguy! The DT Preussen is quite scarce, as you say. I hope to run into a 1848 some day... Your Anhalt-Bernburg is of course also a very nice (and very scarce!) coin. Here is my latest DT addition, for Sachsen Coburg Gotha: Please excuse the poor photo. Thüringen, Sachsen-Coburg-Gotha, Herzogtum Ernst I., 1826-1844, seit 1806 Herzog von Coburg-Saalfeld, 1816-1834 Fürst von Lichtenberg. Doppelter Vereinstaler 1841 G, Dresden.

cableguy815 I was doing my daily scouting on ebay and noticed this one being advertised as a silver 1622 thaler. The seller had no other info and I knew it had to be rare since it was the first time I saw this type.Initially I thought it's a Bremen thaler ( key coat of arms) but couldn't find it.Then I said maybe it's a Regensburg piece, but I knew the c.o.a had two keys so I checked the book and Worms thaler was the result.Price wise, the coin was simply a steal! wcg It's a pretty cool coin I have to say!On the other hand you have some top of the range crowns that I do admire!
