This crown is my last acquisition of 2018 -- picked it up from the post office last Friday. Kingdom of Morocco 1299 (circa 1881-2), 10 dirhams, Paris mint.

Very nice coins guys!I like that Segovia 8 reales a lot!Never thought it's actually a roller dies coin! This is a thaler of Joseph I ,1710/07,Hall mint, KM1438.2, Dav-1018, 28.7 gr.Sadly it has that brooch mark on obv. but for 100£ that I've paid I believe it's a decent deal.Probably in US you'd find it for the same money or less but in the european auction houses there's no chance, even in this condition/grade. One funny thing is that the coin does not have that roller die bent as I expected since it's a Hall mint!

jbuck, beem Thanks!Though I have promised myself not to buy damaged coins anymore unless they're very rare I just couldn't help it!I simply find the portraits of Charles the VI and Joseph the I stunning on the early 18 century thalers! Great Mansfeld piece with beautiful details!

New addition from Heritage auctions this week. German States - Harz Baptismal 2 Taler ND (c. 1680s) AU58 NGC, Zellerfeld mint, Knyphausen-7295 Obv: Scene of John the Baptist baptizing Christ in the river Jordan / Rev: Ten-line inscription with denomination "2" at the bottom. Approx 63 mm; 52 g A tauftaler is a taler-style medal minted by the Zellerfeld mint in Harz. Often called a Baptismal taler, these were struck in the late 1600s and 1700s and presented by the godfather of a newborn to the family or parents of the baby. Several varieties were produced and are most commonly attributed using the Katsouros or Knyphausen catalogue references. The Harz issued talers are not included in the standard Davenport catalogues. This new purchase was intended to accompany my other Harz baptismal taler: 1753-IBH. Zellerfeld Mint. NGC AU-58. Katsouros-23. Approx 50 mm; 29 g Each issue has an inscription on the reverse referencing three verses from the bible which focus on baptism: Galatians 3:26-27, Titus 3:5-7, and 1 Peter 3:21
