I just bought about 15 gold plated State Quarters, I know the numismatic value is zero, but they are unbelievably beautiful. What are you guys thoughts
You're exactly right, no numismatic value; also, the amount of gold on the coins is negligible. If you enjoy them and are willing to pay whatever they cost, then why not?
If you get tired of them someday it might be fun to spend them and see the reaction from the people you hand them to!
I caught the quarter guy on TV, the other day, as he pulled a regular one out of his pocket. He plainly stated that it was worth $.25 then held it up to the gold one and said this was worth $15.
I bought five gold plated 1999 Washington quarters, about five years ago from someone on ebay. I paid approx $10 for the set, including shipping. You are so right, they are pretty to look at, glad to know they have increased somewhat in value.
Maybe I had better dig mine out of the junk box! I got every one at face, and tossed them in the jumk box, because they have no numismatic value, so why take up room? I Just checked, there are 8 of them, and all are BU2002 is the missing one from the Y2K to 2K5 run. There are dupes. Just got a 'puter back on line, but only for a check. Gotta tear down the setup, (again). Bye for now, Dick
