I haven't posted for a few months, but I've been enjoying the show. @TNG/@999fine: Thanks for keeping the thread active with some wonderful medals and tokens! Here's one of the Official Medals for the 1910 Ohio Valley Exposition that was held in Cincinnati, OH. The Exposition was meant to improve trade relations among the southern states in the region. The medals were struck on the Exposition grounds in the US Mint booth from dies prepared in Philadelphia.   Collecting history one coin or medal at a time! (c) commems. All rights reserved.

Here's a plaquette from 1981 that was issued to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the American victory (with significant help from the French) over the British at Yorktown in 1781. The American victory at Yorktown effectively ended the War for Independence and led to a peace treaty between the British and Americans in 1783. The bronze piece was struck by Medallic Art Company (MACO) for the Supreme Council 33° of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. It measures 3" in length x 2-3/16" wide.    Image of the actual Yorktown monument at the battlefield and depicted on the reverse of the plaquette.Collecting history one coin or medal at a time! (c) commems. All rights reserved.

I did "cherry pick" another mule of the 1972 South Dakota Souvenir Dollar cheap. (or is it a mule of the 1971 North Dakota Souvenir Dollar?) I don't think anyone hardly noticed it but they are quite scarce.
