An 1811 Crown Copper Company penny token, Withers-226(?). I like the heft of the 19th century British pennies, but choice unc. examples don't come up that often.   |

The silver medal was sold by "Coins of America," a company that sells (mostly) modern-issue coins in special packaging at premium prices to casual collectors and non-collectors (or, at the very least, to those who enjoy collecting coins in custom packaging and/or those who wish to "dress up" the coins they give as gifts). Your medal was packaged by MPI Coin ( Making a Positive Impact), a marketing/promotion company that creates custom coin products. I don't believe MPI Coin struck the medal (they are not a manufacturer), and I don't know for certain who did (though I have seen a potential reference to The Highland Mint being the source). yarm, that is one gorgeous CCC 1d you've posted. Seldom seen in that state of preservation, and hard to come by, indeed. I was beginning to wonder whether anyone else besides me actually collects these Davis/Withers coppers! I also collect the Dalton silver tokens...haven't seen anyone else posting those either. Maybe we should start a forum for 1811-1820 British tokens? Following in your footsteps, here's one of my high-bore examples, an 1811 1/2d issued by the Bristol Patent Sheathing Nail Manufactory of Somersetshire (Davis 111 and Withers 473a). Sheathing nails were used in shipbuilding to fasten a protective copper skin over a ship's hull below the waterline.

1947 ~ 1 Riyal from Saudi Arabia This coin is very close to the size and thickness of our half dollar and made of silver. (.917)  Edited by KoinKorny
