Thanks, Errers!
And NumisEd, the shape is called "S4" = "scalloped 4". I have S6 and S8 tokens but this is my first 4. I have some other strange shapes - let me dig some out and I'll post pics.

Round tokens are by far the most common, but they were made in a variety of shapes. French token: CHATELET - LA COURSE AUX DOLLARS. Almost exactly the same size as a Morgan dollar, but only 4.64 g (it's a silver plated brass shell card). Virtually no information about this online. A Worthpoint listing speculated that it was from a house of ill repute.  Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures
