Found an interesting company counter stamp on this 1938 LWC...

My search for information on the I'm sure now defunct company was fruitless. I did however find a couple of images similar to the counter stamp. Not a match and possibly not even the same company. The name Bako has a lot of uses I've discovered.

chafemasterj, my mate used to raised sheep, and one day she texted me Baaaa! but it was autocorrected to Basho! That term immediately entered our lexicon, as it is quite versatile. Here on the Forum, I sometimes use it when someone posts a coin with PMD.

Basho. That's a unique word. Had to look it up just because.

That's interesting it gave that definition. "Basho" is a common word meaning "place" in Japanese. e.g. "Ano basho wa doko desu ka?" = "Where is that place?"

I've never heard it used to reference a sumo tournament

Looks to be a jeweler's mark perhaps? 1910 LWC with FB 14K counter stamp with maybe 4 digits erased due to an unfortunate hit...

Here's a really unique 'counter stamped' LWC. The obverse has a large Masonic emblem and the reverse has a really large Shriner's symbol.

I suspect these are Masonic symbols. It looks slightly elongated to me.

And the way there seem to be symbols on both rims makes me think this was "rolled" into an "elongated cent" with the symbols on the roller.

Hmmm. Three LIBERTY's and three dates. Probably rolled twice in 195x.
What does the reverse look like?

I'll take a stab and say it started out as a 1921 cent that got turned into an elongated cent in 195x.

I feel I got really fortunate here.

The Delta Theta Tau Sorority...

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delta_Theta_Tau

Has a crest and membership badge. I happened to find a lot that had a counter stamped example of each...

The crest is on a 1903 IHC. The year the sorority was founded.

The badge is on a 1920 LWC.

Hey Petespockets55. What coins are you referencing? I don't see anything in this or the previous page that makes sense.
