I saw that too. Maybe whoever stamped the coin got their hands on a nice shiny box of 1974 cents and figured why not stamp them for the horse? Mystery for sure.

I was reading Secretariat's Wikipedia biography and saw that he was inducted into the Horse Racing Hall of Fame in 1974. Perhaps it is commemorating that?

Double headed Scottish Rite Eagle on reverse and Square and Compass on obverse.

Most of the double sided Masonic counter stamps 'cup' the coin. This one it is flat.
