Just post strike damage ( PSD). Something hit in the area of the S and pushed the metal away, causing the strange looking S. When trying to determine PSD versus an error, I always take the overall condition of the coin into consideration. Your coin shows numerous nicks and dings, so to me it would be a 99.9% chance that the S was caused by damage to the coin as well. Then, I can rule out an error by knowing the minting process, and what can and can't happen during striking that would cause that.

That's damage, not an error. It's Post Strike Damage, since it happened after it left the U.S. Mint. It took a hit, causing the metal to get scratched up.
Errers and Varietys.
Rest in Peace
