Beauty coins guys. So a few days ago I was Hem-Hawing whether or not I wanted to go to my LCS and finally decided to go. So I walked in and right away my guy said he had some Libertads. Well those 1 oz silv Libertads had come from a roll first opened that morning when he sold most of them to another good customer and he had 5 left. I swooped in and he gave me them for $63 each. No kidding these 1982 Libertads looked like they never even saw air let alone been handled. So I decided since I already have about 10 1982's now I'm going to give 4 of these away as gifts to friends and family. They are now safely in capsules and I hope spark interest for our hobby in others. The Libertad is my favorite coin and Ive paid a lot more then $63 each for some.

Quote: This one's a tad heavy, but nominal is 1.86g of .968 silver. Very nice Minted. I explored both Samurai era and SHOWA coinage as I built my wall of responsibility against the fascist and communist tyranny's I despise. Japan had a fairly interesting History of coinage. For much of history they were the biggest producers of silver in the world having one of the purest veins in history. This was of course long before the World Wars my wall exposes but silver had a special significance because it was the only money the Chinese, who despised them, would accept for payment for the silks the Japanese needed desperately for their kimono's. Control of this silk trade gave immense power to first the Portuguese and the Jesuit order of Christianity and then later the British. This is all a simplistic version of history but when you hold Japanese silver and gold you hold a lot of history.

Super Shu, MintedNotPrinted! You reminded me that I have a couple of those tucked away somewhere from a few years back - I need to dig them out. Another sweet silver swan, GLB. Another nice assortment, Dearborn.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Lovely Libertad, SilverSkunk! I picked up 3 of them on Friday but haven't photographed them yet.
