Finally, The Apollo Landing for me was Today. I am loving the design, Out of the half sets, the Unc Dollars, the Proof Dollars, and the cherry on the cake, the $5.00 Unc Gold, I LOVE the Gold Unc, I wish My funds were better to have the proof $5.00 to hold and compare the two. I also love the Half sets, being clad, I NEVER would of thought they would be so sweet. THEY are better then I expected and actually, LOVE the Kennedy too, the enhanced version stands out and compliments the Proof Half next to it. Overall, The sets ALL, were better in hand then I could of hoped for. The strikes on ALL were/are, flawlessly Amazing, ENJOY!!! I think the U S Mint has shown some strong designs and can rise to the ocassion, Congrats to the U S Mint...... PS, I see others are not as pleased with their deliveries, I am sorry That is Your positions, I would look into a possible exchange, CHECK first to be sure You can receive the exchanged coins, BEFORE sending them back......

Quote: How can anyone say they were disappointed? When most other companies offer something for sale, they have the product to back it up. Now we are told it will be 9 MONTHS before WE receive their product. I've been highly disappointed with the Mint before; this is just and ongoing story.......

October is really ridiculous and even though it will probably be available MUCH earlier than that it doesn't inspire any reason to order one now....
If they were all available for shipping it most likely would have been sold out sometime next week or shortly thereafter..

But if a person wants to get one, you had better get in line; First Come... First Served.

United States Mint officials would not disclose how many of the 5-ounce silver coins were produced before sales were opened. The primary reason for the delay in shipping the remaining coins is the limitation of blank supply. Mint spokesman Michael White said orders have been placed for additional blanks for coins to be produced and shipped as they become available. Also contributing to the production and shipping delays is that the Proof Apollo 11 5-ounce silver dollar has to share production time with the 5-ounce silver bullion and Uncirculated versions of the America the Beautiful Quarter dollars, which are struck on the same unique press at the Philadelphia Mint. https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-c...-dollar.html

So they sold a tad over 51k the first day. AT 1209pm it went to backorder status but sales continued with that known...so...how many do you think were actually sold and went to "processing" in that nine minutes considering all the other offerings that day....
I will go out on a limb and say it was probably 30k or less and even that would be 6000 unique orders placed and all for 5 coins...in nine minutes

Commemorative coins are seldom complete sell outs. They often sell thousands fewer than maximum mintage set by law. If the mint made the maximum ahead of time everyone would get their coins faster. But the mint would often be left with thousands of unsold coins with the wasted cost of making them and having to have them melted down to be remade into new blanks. Not to mention the thousands of unused specialty boxes and printed COAs. So while it's a pain to have to wait for ordered coins, maybe the mint makes a beginning batch to see how sales go and then makes more if needed? I really don't know. But it would be a waste to make thousands extra that don't sell. It seems wise to strike commemoratives on an as needed basis. Just my opinion.

So while you all wait... I put the 2019 ERP Kennedy next to my 2014 RP and EU half dollars and I have to say I like how the 2019 ERP looks the best. Just my opinion, YMMV.

I would think the Mint is obligated to strike the 100K that they state is the limit across all options, if they sell or not. And I believe they all sell eventually. Four out of the five ATB 5 once coins are still available from 2018, while the WW1 Centennial and the Breast Awareness coins have sold out. I just think that they were not prepared.........AGAIN!

Quote: ...while the WW1 Centennial and the Breast Awareness coins have sold out. This isn't correct According to the 1/27/19 Mint Sales report, the sales of these coins are: WWI $1 PRF - 127,837 WWI $1 UNC - 22,336 Total - 150,173 out of 350,000 authorized BCA $1 PRF - 34,542 BCA $1 UNC - 12,526 Total - 47,068 out of 400,000 authorized Just because the Mint stops selling a coin doesn't mean the coin sold out (if it did, then every coin would eventually sell out). Typically, commemorative coin legislation limits the Mint to selling the coin only in the year it is minted. Without that by law limitation, the Mint could (probably would) continue to sell the coins for several years.
