got $110 in rolls of half dollars from my bank..

only got one 40% silver.. then a 1941-D Walking Liberty half. I know it's a high mintage but it's in pretty decent condition..

more importantly.. this being my first coin collecting excursion in a few years.. the flame has been rekindled! bring on the massive, massive amounts of change haha

it is amazingly addictive. if I didn't have to work in half an hour i'd be back at the bank haha.

i put it to my roommate like this.. "it's like collecting baseball cards.. except you can exchange the ones you don't want or need "

GB, that's a good analogy. I have on my desk a handful of LHCs that I am about to tear into. Since they are in the see-through plastic wrap holders I went ahead and scanned through a few of them to find the thick reddish rims that are telltale signs of Wheaties. One was a 1945. I also found two dimes mixed in there, which is odd. My bank is losing money with that kinda error!

I have yet to do half dollars...that might be next. I normally do pennies, dimes and quarters.

yeah. the first two rolls that I got were from a bank inside wal mart. I told myself that I was gonna wait till I accumulated as many rolls as I could afford, then go home and open them. right after I got them I walked around the corner and opened them all.. one was all bi-centennial halves and the other had nothing special. but I just couldnt wait until I got home. and I will be going back tomorrow morning.

Wow, they've gotten expensive! I remember back in the day they were only $7 for a roll of halves.

I still get excited when my rolls appear (from the mailman) and I sit down with a beer (or coffee) and slowly (very slowly) open them one at a time and wait until I get a gap filler. Makes it a worthwhile.
regards
