tonight I picked a very well-scattered $1.33, some really terrible coins, most of them roadrashed to some degree, but keepers nonetheless. that's only the third time so far this month that I've found $1 or more.

tonight was even better, I scored more than twice as much as last night. tonight started when I picked three quarters from a drive-up window area, which was great, but I figured that was going to be the best find of the night, ie, no guarantee of $1+... a while later I picked a pair of quarters from an ice machine coin return: toward the end of the route I discovered that some kind soul left me a tidy pile of coins at an air-vac: $2.97 on the night... one of the lincoln cents I picked was a 1970-S with roadrash: ouch... I would have kept that if it had no roadrash. oh well... still a very above-average night. tubes fill a lot faster. I wrapped a full roll of quarters on sunday, cycle 20 now at $159, and I have nearly topped a full roll of dimes and two full rolls of zincolns, so cycle 20 will reach $165 soon.

Nice finds, MrPink! It seems that news of the cent's demise were greatly exaggerated because you're still finding them.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Excellent finds! Quote: one of the lincoln cents I picked was a 1970-S with roadrash: At least it is still bronze, not a Zincoln.

Quote: It seems that news of the cent's demise were greatly exaggerated because you're still finding them. wellll.... yes, I am still finding them, just not in large amounts anymore. last night is a good example. last night I found 8 quarters, 8 dimes, 3 nickels and just 2 cents. back in the day (anytime, going back to 2018) it was fairly common for me to find more than 10 or 20 or 30 zincolns on any night. lately it's been between 5 & 10, if any.

yes, and tonight was just as good. for only the fifth time this month (and third consecutive night) I scored $1+. I managed to pick a well-scattered $1.55, although the bulk of tonight's find was deja vu-like as I picked four nice new quarters from the same drive-up window area as last night (last night I picked three quarters there). I noticed this detail last night, too: those nice new quarters I've picked up there are the 2026 mayflower & pilgrims: lucky me. they're flinging to the ground those nice new quarters. I got 'em before they got trashed. tonight's pickins topped-off a zincoln tube and the dime tube, so cycle 20 officially sits at $165.
