Nice examples of overprints "DavidUK, IGE & Scots" Here's a 200 Rial overprint Iranian overprint of the Shah P-119a:   IMO-there's quite a dramatic colour shift on these (compared to earlier Shah notes) as the blue & contrasting colours are quite vivid compared to their predecessors. |

A seller I buy from has some, I've got to get myself one. - I looked for one of these for over a year. Finally I found a US seller who listed the posted example for a 2 day (48 hr) flash sale. Bidding was brisk but I'm happy that my bid actually snagged it. Every other Iranian overprint I have seen has been a pretty common example (from Europe) & listed at a pricey BIN sale in Euros so I would 'go-for-it' if your seller can deliver one in decent shape. They're really not that expensive (considering how uncommon they are) & I've seen way more 'neat' Rials without the overprint than the ones that have been 'doctored' with the overprint. Here's Type 3 with Persian calligraphic text " Islamic Republic of Iran" over the watermark on a 500 Rial (P-124b):   (Note Type 2 lion & sun national emblem over the watermark of the 200 & 50 compared to the Type 1 on the P-110b 20 Rials - blank watermark) Edited by walk2dwater
