This was found with a couple of other Cuban notes (in another post) but the condition sends mixed messages...it's crisp and perfect but looks like a low quality print job. It seems to be a promissory note of sorts "signed" by Castro. Any insight to history or authenticity is welcome.
Thanks!

Scan is of front and back

Hi! This one is real, to begin with. It's a "Bono Revolucionario" (revolutionary scrip) issued by Movimiento 26 de Julio. This is known as "Tipo 1", the first emission of these by M-26-7. They were printed from april 1957 in Santiago de Cuba. There are also varieties with the back image printed in green and with ovpt "EDICION EXTERIOR". These scrip were handed out to the public in exchange for real money, to finance the rebellion on Cuba in 1957 and 1958. Of the Tipo 1 series, known denominations are 1, 5, 10, 50, 100 and 1,000 Pesos. Of the 1 Peso denomination, two different forgeries are known, although it still escapes me why anyone would try to forge these things: They were not a means of payment. In fact, if you were caught in the possession of these things by the secret police of dictator Batista, you were in for severe punishment. Finally, the 1 Peso in UNC condition should fetch about 20-25 USD. If you'd like to know more, just ask :) It's pretty hard to find any info on these, so if anyone else has some, I'm eager to learn :)
