I got this quarter at my laundromat in one of my washers. Does it look like a clip? or could it be damage?

This was done post strike. Just a damaged coin . A straight clip would show a fading rim as it approaches the clip. Here is one of mine as an example.

I agree with the stone man. Looks to me like there are grinding marks from where this coin was filed or sanded down.

Unfortunately, it's been altered with Post Strike. It's Post Strike Damage ( PSD), meaning that this happened after it left the U.S. Mint (after the strike). It's a spender, since it was intentional damage.
