There is a big discussion on another forum identifying it as an altered date 1798.

Yes, that is a manipulated coin. Definitely not an S-188 or S-189.

At the end of the day, the buyer paid approximately 8-10 times more than the entire lot is worth.
It is a real pity for the buyer.
