I spotted this today in a shop's "junk" silver bin. The terribly dark toning is probably what got it relegated there, and granted it's a very common issue, but I thought it was still rather a bit too nice to be on its way to the smelter.
Finding that needle in a haystack or that buried treasure at the bottom of a dusty dirty junk box is such a great feeling. Congrats and enjoy that awesome feeling along with that really nice classic silver coin!
NOTE: I have seen this exact same blackish covering/"toning" many times on GB 3 & 6 pence silver coins from this specific time period. I have not accurately ID'd exactly what it is but I do know that it is atypical but harmlessly inert.
