1982 D Washington Quarter - Spitting Eagle Error?

Yokozuna Pillar of the Community United States 4618 Posts	Posted 11/25/2019 8:23 pm to the CCF! A spitting eagle is just a clashed die error, it's not really a die variety. While the line on your coin may be from clashed dies, it's not the same as most that I've seen. The line should be in the same shape as Washington's throat and be raised to one side. It looks like the line on your coin is incuse. Here's an overlay. You can see where the clash should be and the correct shape. Using the overlay, do you see any other areas showing die clash? Click on the photo for a larger image On most clashed die Washington quarters you can see the line both above and below the eagle's beak.
