@TT, sorry but that doesn't look like struck-through to me. Often these stepped or interrupted small gouges result from the edge of a heavier reeded coin (like a half dollar) impacting this coin. Let's see what the others say.

I saw that interruption and figured it was a irregular shaped object. The toning down in the depths of the damaged made me think it was a mint error. Wishful thinking again.
