I started looking at coins about 2 weeks ago. Does the 8 in "2008" have extra material? It appears that way to me. Would this be a error coin? Any insite is appreciated.

Error coin? NO ... What you have is a "broken post" when the die chip happens inside a letter or number. Spender in my book.. to CCF...good luck on future finds....
