Well it seems I will got be getting the chance to meet Harry. His car has major mechanical problems and he has managed to limp back to Kalgoorlie (about 800km from Perth). From there I think he will head back east. Good news is they found a few more grams of gold. Might need that now to pay for the repairs. Steve

I must start out by saying sorry Steve I didn't get to meet you but next time I'll go to Perth first and g'day Wolf,I'll post photo's of the trip and gold when I get a chance and as you will see it wasn't the best of trips for gold but great for scenery, about 2 1/2 oz all up between four of us so not as good as the last trip made by my two mates for 7 oz in the same area. And yes the car played up as I did an inner right bearing,It could have been that bolder I drove over that was covered up in the bull dust or the hundreds of miles on the roughest corrugation (corrugated roads) I'd ever seen but more about that latter,I've just spent two weeks in the golden triangle returning home to-day with very little luck and just to finish this thread off my prays go out to all of the victims from the Christchurch earthquake very sad.

Just to wet your appetite, Half an oz This was found about a mile/1.6ks from Sandstone by my mate Tim with his Minelab GP 4500,this was our very first day on the goldfields prospecting and yes it did give us hope and the start of a great adventure.

Thanks for the pics, Harry. Seems strange that the 1/2OZ lump is worth about 700 of those $1 coins you pictured. Steve

I wont bore you with all the details of the drive from Sydney to Sandstone W.A.only with some of them LOL,we had to divert around the floods in Wagga Wagga and ended up in Leeton/Narrandra then on to Mildura then over the border in to South Australia,We stopped at a little truck stop and sleep-ed until morning. Then on to Port Augusta with 2 overnight stays, onto Bordertown where the truck and trailer were searched by the border patrol and into Western Australia, didn't see much of the Nullabour Plain as this was traversed at night and a stopover in a truck stop around 1am,we left there about 6am and arrived in Kalgoorie that afternoon and decided to have another stopover, this was an easy choice as there are only three caravan parks so we chose the Prospector Caravan Park which was one of the best choices we had made till then. Carrol the manager and her husband were very kind to use, made us feel at home and looked after us and all I can say is what a great caravan park that is thanks Carol. Just to conclude this thread we went on to Sandstone the next day traveling through 6 gold towns(about 600ks roughly)before we reached Sandstone late afternoon

Man, sounds like the drive alone was an adventure. Like the nuggets. They are prettier than mine. HAHAHAHAHA! Wish I could swing my detector over a 1/2 OZ nugget. Hell, I'd take a 1/10 OZ nugget. Even a speck would be cool. Think I'm gonna hit a big one this summer. can't go negative for so long without some big payoff right? Then again maybe I should stick to beach metal detecting. At least I find me a little silver now and then. WOLF
