I'll be leaving a Christmas Wolf I like to plan early so I can gather as much information on the areas I'm going to hit before I get there, that way I'm not going in blind as a bat and fumble around in the desert,I'll make sure all my gear's up to date detector's are all working O.K. and have enough of every thing I need to stay in the desert for weeks at a time so I'll still be hanging out here for a few more months. regards Harry

O.K. time to add some more photo's,some of the fine gold was sluiced in what we call a power sluice and then the concentrate was panned off, this river is the Peel river and good gold is still found here today, this bend would have about a half ton of gold sill locked inside till the next flood, these photo's are all taken of photo's in my photo album (my fossickers photo album) This is where about 2 to 3oz came out in two days with two sluices going about forty feet from the water on the flat just before the river bank (John in the photo didn't tell me exactly how much he won so I can't say for sure). This is another area call Long creek, here you see the mob digging the creek bank back, this was started 15 years ago right beside the creek and now 15 to 30 feet from the creek in places, some very good gold has come out of here in the past and recently a 14oz from near here. Having a spell from the shovel this is my son. My wife swinging a coil and on to something Oh sorry that was "what the heck is this" and this is what It's all about the specie had 1oz in it,this was found XXXXXXXXX Golden Triangle and the oval one was 5 grams found with others in and around Nuggetty Gully I'll post more before I hit the road to Western Australia but for now these will have to do . all the best to all Harry

Holly smokes them are some fine nuggets. The boot shaped one is cool as heck. How far from home are the fields you hunt at? The one creek I go to is @ 3 hour drive but I'm thinking you go a lot further than I do. That is what I was thinking of doing; working the banks that is. Seams like when the creek is bare then the banks are the next to hit correct? I may go to a different creek this weekend. Only @ 2 hour drive but I'm dying to go anyways. These posts give me cabin fever and I want to go a searching. Lookin forward to more pics for sure. WOLF

G'Day mate there are many North,South and West,Nundle to the North North West is about 5 hours,Hill End/Sofala/Mudgee area about 5 hours West and North West and Oberon/Braiwood is 4 hours South West and South South West respectively. The Victorian Golden Triangle is about 10 hours South West and the Western Australian Gold Fields are 4 days West,so you see nothing close to Sydney as Sydney lei's in the middle of a sandstone basin that extends for 120 to 150 miles North,South and West,my mate Tim lives in the middle of the triangle in a town/city called Bendigo,he drives 5 minutes down the road and he's swinging the coil and 10 minutes putt's him in the Whipstick Forrest where a lot of big nugget are still found to this day the lucky ducks anyway my day will come and when it does I'll probable fall down a mine shaft LOL . regards Harry

WOW! Long drives for you then. But man it sounds like the stuff is just layin around, although I know that is not the case. I can see why you put a lot of planning into your trips. I may be in Japan from January to April (for my job). Will you be in the fields then? Wondering how much a flight from japan to Australia would be. Might try to get my bones down there some how. Draw me a map and I'll come find ya. I'm a good shoveler. WOLF

Well it depends on your luck,(just a short story about luck this is from Gold Gem and Treasure in a section called"Echoes From the Past", "The Argus 4Th of August 1937" Lucky slip of a pick:Rich find by Prospector Perth- At Mt Sir Samuel two prospectors,Ernest Tuck and Leslie Gray, unearthed a kidney of gold and quartz estimated to contain 200 to 500 ounces of gold,it is stated that Tuck accidentally dropped his pick and the point became embedded in the indicator which lead to the discovery.) So this is just one story of luck and that is about the size of it the more luck you have the more gold you get and it doesn't matter how much hard work you put into finding it,it all boils down to how much luck you have Oh and with your trip to Auss I'll draw you a mud map and leave the light on in the caravan window

Ha! Thats awesome. Trust me I've followed worse maps than a mud map and found my way. I know what ya mean about luck. Its kind of the same way with M.D.ing. I'm just wondering when I'm gonna get the good luck. I've done the research and found the areas etc. But have yet to hit the great score. Or maybe I'm just expectin to much. As I've said before; as far as gold goes I'd be happy finding a pea nugget. Gonna try a new spot on sunday I think. See what I can do. Good luck Harry and I'll talk to ya Tuesday. WOLF

Thanks mate also I didn't include any think on detecting sorry didn't think ,next time I will send you something on detecting as I have heaps of info on that too, just out of curiosity what type of pan do you use as the pan I use is called a turbo pan. Now you ask what's a turbo pan no it doesn't sit on the engine LOL It has spiral riffles radiating from the bottom to the top,I can pan off in under two minutes and sometimes in under a minute (so turbo means water action is very fast)that's if I didn't want to muck around, anyway Wolf please let me know if the information's helpful for you and I'll leave off here wishing you a very prosperous trip the next time out. And don't forget to swing low and slow Best regards Harry

Just put a bid on a telescope, need to have some diversity when I'm in the gold fields, something to distract me from the gold . That's why I collect coins and stamps.
