This coin came as: "Syracuse? Veiled Fem Head / Eagle." It does appear to be a male head though. The coin is 20 mm in diameter, and weighs 6.5 gr.

The nearest match I can find is, Sicily, Syracuse. Hiketas. 287-278 BC. Laureate head of Zeus Hellanios (or young Zeus) facing left on the obverse, and an eagle standing left on a thunderbolt.

Any thoughts?

The eagle seems to confirm your identification. What surprises me is the stange cross on the profile of Apollo. What is it ? A kind of graffiti ?

Thanks Bob, I'll attribute it as such.

It's hard to say ancient67. It could be ancient graffiti, but whatever it is it looks like it has been there for a very long time.
