Thank you. I am only midway into my collection of Açores copper coins. The silver coinage is not so nice. But the 5-10-20 reis kept this nice style from 1790 to 1901.
The early Maria I dates are hard to find in good condition. The João VI regent coins with roman numerals are very hard, but you can leave them out of the series. Then it is only those of Maria I, Maria II, Luís and Carlos.

When I was in Portugal I was looking for the Carlos 5-10 and 20 and the 2 coin shops I went to didn't have them in Unc condition, they had the 10 in circulated and that was it. I really like the Acores coins but I was unable to find them.

Carlos only issued 5 and 10. These last ones are cheap but it takes patience or some luck to find them for sale in good condition.

Meant to write and a 20 reis. I missed some words :)
I wanted a sample of all 3, the king on the coin wasn't important.
If you find them, please buy them for me. I'll pay for them and for you to send to me!

Quote: Will show one of mine... Not a difficult coin and not in best shape. I got it because of the beautiful marbled texture in its patina. Nice example!

I may be able to help, you can send me an email. Today I saw for sale a 20 reis of D. Luís. Took a picture to show you. But I would call it by our grading standards only MBC+. It is not uncirculated. That will take longer to find. And I can only hand coins to you if or when you visit here, because all sellers are telling me that sending coins to the US now is to be avoided. Too many problems with customs.

I actually didn't plan on this, but 2 coins popped up on ebay for very good prices and the dealers took a lower offer from me, so 2 new coins coming.

I had both out for delivery, but only 1 came in, the other is still out for delivery. I'll post pictures as soon as the other one comes in.

I will be in Porto late September. Gonna go sightseeing and coin shopping. Bit of a last minute trip, but I have to be in The Netherlands for family business early October. So I thought I combine it with a trip to Porto (since I've already been to Lisbon).
