Thanks, I appreciate your candor on these, They are beauties, huh? BTW, the bath is to hopefully remove any black deposits on them, not the toning.

I think the recent lot looks nice and natural. Be a little picky assembling or later you are going to be upgrading.

@ Dearborn , John I know you just started on Franklin halves but if you want to go any better than mid circ to low MS you need to be a little more picky with your purchases . Search for ones that have little to no facial hits and Bell hits . Forget about trying for FBL they will drain your wallet in no time . Because the Franklin half's bust and Bell is so much higher then rest of coin those 2 features fair worse to bag marks ,scratches and railroad hits . For me it's a tough series to make a complete set out of in decent condition . Set a standard grade for yourself and stick with it . Most of all eye appeal on all coins is priority .You don't want an EF-40 with digs next to a MS-62 with some luster showing .

Thanks Tony! I appreciate your input. I do hope to get mid 60 grades, just not too familiar with the Franklin's yet. Your advise really points me to a good direction when out shopping. I'm not a huge fan of low grade coin of any denomination so that is my driving force here. I hope to learn quickly here so upgrading wont have to happen later.
EDIT: Very glad you are back to posting again Tony, stay well.

Well I got in another Franklin (a proof this time) 1962 (P) It only weighs in at 4.1g instead of 4.5g so it is a bit light.

I really don't understand why your building a circulated set and a proof set at the same time . To me this would be a waste of coin funds . Lesson today : Stop buying circulated Frankies ! And stick with the Proofs PF-66-68 . Cameo's would be nice .

Well here's the thing, Tony, I already have the full series (except for 1950-1952) still in OGP. I'm collecting these now to fill a Dansco album to put up with all my others for showing. My OGP's stay locked up and hidden. I could be getting better specimens (and I should) and will in the future. But for collecting them one at a time I'm still a bit of a novice as to what to look for on these somewhat smooth coins. (to me - looking at the top of the head, it looks all worn to me, even proofs) That alone makes it a bit harder and then having to trust the sellers out there to give what they say they offer is another thing entirely. AS for my collecting pattern, I started at 1963 and am working backwards getting all 3 of each year as I go back.
