Ok so I've weighed this quarter and it comes out at 5.62g grams so that's why I'm a little hesitant to ask if it is one of those experimental planchets. However I was finally able to find my other plated quarter and they look different I get toning and all could be a factor but why does the one not look like the same metal its close but not quite.. The known plated quarter weighs 5.76g should I take a chance and test between the reeding on the questionable one? From what I can see it doesn't look like there is plating down in between... is there a better way to test for plating? Also apologies for the phone photos my camera is in use for another project still. Your thoughts are appreciated!

Definitely plated. In future post, please remove your coins from the 2x2s. Thanks.

I'll have to agree with a plated quarter - easy to tell by looking at the edge - the Copper core has been plated over too.

Yes, plated. A number of third party interests plated state and ATB Quarters and sold them as sets.
