Haiti marked its connection to the American Revolution (via the Battle of Savannah) with a commemorative silver 25 Gourdes coin issued during the US Bicentennial years. The coin was issued in 1974, 1975 and 1976; all issues were precious metal proof coins for collectors vs. circulation pieces. (500 and 1,000 Gourdes gold coins with the same design were also issued in 1974.)

The coin's reverse presents the Coat-of-Arms of Hait. At the center of the Arms is seen a palm tree with a drum at its base. The tree is flanked by six flags of Haiti (three on each side), as well as by a pair of cannons facing in opposite directions away from the tree; cannon balls are stacked near each cannon. (Haiti's Coat-of-Arms has been updated since 1976 to include a Liberty Cap atop the tree; the update came after Francious Duvalier died and his son, Jean-Claude Duvalier, who succeeded him as president, was ousted from office in 1986.)
