Quote: I just don't think the price that the submitter paid for their submitted coin can be face value As a contributor to this game with one of the longest active 'games played' streak - besides of course our fabulous host jbuck - I'll add my views to that topic. Face value submissions are absolutely welcome and if someone CRH finds an interesting coin worthy of jbuck acceptance then great for them. The GTP rules state guesses start at $0.25 and go from there - the low end is there for a reason just like this IMO. I'm hopeful this round's clipped Kennedy half was a CRH find as my guess would land points - all well within the long standing rules and intent of GTP. That said - those of us choosing to guess low are taking the risk that the coin was purchased instead of CRH found - hence truly preserving the spirit of Guess the Price edit for spllgening

I see past seasons that guesses price for circulation finds guess in face value is permitted, if the coin was a gift then it cost $0? And if it was found picking up on the floor?

Circulation finds have always been allowed, but for cents, nickels, and dimes they "cost a quarter" per the rules. Free coins, be it gifts or floor finds, are actually prohibited by the rules: "-- Minimum Guess is $0.25. Free coins are not used here."

Quote: Hey, it's worth the guess! There is an old joke about coin dealers buying bicentennial coins, 1964-D nickels, and other ubiquitous coins for less than face value.
