Looks to just be MD, I think it runs all down the face and jacket. Abrasions are the "lines" you see, running southwest to northeast.

Something else I noticed on the full coin shot of your obverse though, looks to be the die that got debunked as an overdate.

I agree with makecents, you can see that MD on the upper lip and jacket as well.
nice catch on the date thing though MC - or is it good memory?

My recall is not that great, just lucky sometimes. Not 100% on that being the die but sure looks like it and the mm location looks good.
