@IndianGoldEagle Quote: Luxembourg 1946 50 Francs I have just spent some time being immersed in the history of this commemoration, and the life and times of 'John The Blind', (John of Luxembourg / John of Bohemia), who's father (Henry VII) and son (Charles IV) were both at one time Holy Roman Emperors. I had never heard of him before and glad I saw your coin (which is pretty special too)

Dwight David Eisenhower (DDE) was the 34th US President, serving two consecutive four-year terms - January 20, 1953 to January 20, 1961. He also had an illustrious military career in which he served as the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces at D-Day (France) during World War II and rose to the rank of a Five-Star General in the US Army. In 1990, the US Mint struck/released a commemorative Silver Dollar in DDE's honor; it had been authorized by the US Congress in 1988. The coin's obverse presents the dual dates "1890" and "1990" below the conjoined portraits of DDE (one wearing the hat of a military uniform, the other in professional attire befitting a President). The dates represent Eisenhower's birth year (1890) and its centennial anniversary (1990). DDE was born on October 14, 1890 in Denison, Texas. He died on March 28, 1969 in Washington, DC at the Walter Reed Army Hospital from heart failure; he was 78 at the time of death. The coin's reverse presents Eisenhower's Gettysburg, Pennsylvania home, now part of the Eisenhower Gettysburg National Historical Site. jbuck posted his outstanding Proof and Uncirculated Eisenhower Commemorative Silver Dollar earlier in this thread (see them here: jbuck's Eisenhower Commemorative Silver Dollars. As I collect the Uncirculated versions of the modern US commemorative coins, I'll post such an example here. 1990 Eisenhower Commemorative Silver Dollar

Here's a $5 silver collector coin from Canada that features the dual dates "1905 - 2005." The coin marks the centennial of Alberta joining the Canadian Confederation on September 1, 1905. The coin's commemorative design was created by Michelle Grant. It depicts a wild rose (Alberta's provincial flower) flanked by wheat spikes, an oil derrick with cattle grazing on an open plain and, finally, a mountain range with a setting sun. Ms. Grant named the design - "Big Sky Country." 2005 Alberta Centennial $5 Silver Coin For more about the coin and the contest held to determine its design, check out: - 2005 Alberta Centennial Silver $5

Here's another $5 silver collector coin from Canada that features the dual dates "1905 - 2005" - the 2005 Saskatchewan Centennial coin. The coin marks the 100th Anniversary of Saskatchewan joining the Canadian Confederation on September 1, 1905 (the same day as Alberta). The coin's commemorative reverse design is the creation of wildlife artist Paulett Sapergia; the design is named "Western Meadowlark." It depicts a singing Western Meadowlark, perched on a fence post with barbed wire, as its primary foreground design element; the bird is flanked by shafts of wheat. To the left of the bird is seen a railroad track that leads to a large grain elevator in the background. To the right of the Meadowlark is depicted the sun setting over the open prairie. 2005 Saskatchewan Centennial $5 Silver Coin For more about the coin and the contest held to determine its design, check out: - 2005 Saskatchewan Centennial Silver $5

1991 Swiss 20 francs: This commemorative silver coin celebrates the 700th anniversary of the Federal Charter of 1291, when three independent Cantons (small states) got together to form what would become the Federation of Switzerland. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feder...rter_of_1291
