I think this would be considered a die break, but am not sure! Can anyone help me with this one?

@rmb, are you sure that those are die cracks under the 4 and 3? They look a bit more like damage from these pics whereas the linear mark coming off the 9 looks like a legit die crack.

43's were infamous for cracking up but cannot find a Retained or Pre-Cud that matches. This is not a typical place for it. Nice, clear closeups would be great! Here is a link to what I'm talking about though. LINK http://cuds-on-coins.com/lincoln-ce...d-cuds-1943/

My 1st thought or wondering if the coin has been replated? Thanks, Doug.

Could be but all the rest still may have happened. Better pics needed, regardless.

The re-plating removes any value for this coin. Just a steel Wheat cent now.

Sorry everyone! I was out of commission yesterday! Thank you all for your help. I took some more photos with minimal light to see if that would help. It looks a lot to me like an image to the link "makecents" posted which by the way was very informative, image RDC-1c-1943-17, but with a piece of the lamination missing. Here are some photos with minimal lighting that might help.

Are the last two images the true color and does it stick to a magnet? Thanks, Doug.

You may want to send some images to Cuds on Coins and see if you can get a "spike head" or UDC listing.

Spike head link: http://cuds-on-coins.com/lincoln-ce...s-1940-1949/

UDC link: http://cuds-on-coins.com/udc-1c-2007/

Not quite sure what you are talking about with the RDC-1c-1943-17 listing though, it does not resemble it at all.

is that the color of this coin? a copper color? for a steel cent?
I'm thinking that this is a damaged, re-plated cent.

damaged and replated and although interesting, as mentioned, replating has destroyed any value it may have had, sorry.
