Welcome to CCF. It's a great place to learn and discuss. IMO that looks like a long dent/scratch that happened after it left the mint. It's called PMD post mint damage. When coins are in circulation they can get a lot of scuffs, dents, scratches, etc.
There are die gouges, die cracks, mint errors that people look for. There are online sites and printed books about them. It's a huge field with many years of production, many different types of coins, many errors to learn about. Collectors often decide to concentrate on a specific coin type or error to collect.
