Old American "freedom" Token?

Rollhunter1994 Valued Member United States 195 Posts	Posted 04/10/2009 8:17 pm I found this coin in a small bag with some other coins that my grandpa gave me. There were two of them in the bag. pls Rest in Peace United States 1729 Posts	Posted 04/12/2009 9:48 pm I've seen four different sizes of the "No Cash Value" tokens, identical (except for size) and with various items on the back, mostly in bronze but occasionally aluminum or copper-nickel. MrCanada Pillar of the Community Canada 650 Posts	Posted 06/21/2009 12:59 am These are generic arcade tokens, stock tokens. I was in the coin op business and these came in diameters larger or smaller than a quarter. I believe there is a regulation that when producing tokens they cannot be the same size as a quarter. Coin accepters are modified to accept these and sold as bulk tokens. I had a buddy that used to call them divorce tokens , on one side you have "freedom and the other side is no cash value" , kinda true. Report this Post to the Staff
Greckel Valued Member United States 61 Posts	Posted 07/04/2009 12:09 am My cousin purchased one of these for $.25 at an antique store on our last coin hunting trip. It was marked as being a WWII era token. Doing a little research on the web it reveals that they are just generic tokens mass produced. I too chuckled at the irony of the saying.
