I have a better picture of the anomaly in question. What I noticed when I was searching what it could be, is that it looked like a struck-through spring or coil. However, I have no Idea. But I know you do.

Looks like it did the obverse die in, and they replaced the obverse but kept the reverse without abrading it. Must have been busy.
