Can someone provide details on a penny struck on wrong planchets. This is a 1940 Wheat penny that's 1.4g and not the normal 3.11g Thanks a bunch!

Dirt is very acidic, it will eat away the metal elements and eventually return them to the earth.

I would like to see the reverse of the coin. With what looks like striations it may be a split planchet coin.

We'll need much better pics, but there's a chance that could be struck on a split planchet.

If it lost that much metal to corrosion, the diameter would probably shrink. Is it the same diameter as a normal copper cent? I agree that a pic of the reverse would help.

I'm with the others on this possibly being a split planchet. Please post up a reverse image and a better obverse image as well.
