Picked up a roll of customer rolled 1999-P Pennsylvania quarters from the bank. The teller told me they came from a collector. Of the 40 quarters, 22 seem to have a partial die crack on the Obverse side below George, 1 has a rather long die crack (same place), and the other 17 I really haven't found anything glaringly wrong.
Am I correct in assuming these have die cracks?
Pics 1-2: Showing condition of the coins, BU I'd suspect; Pic 3: Obverse side below George without any die crack; Pic 4: Partial die crack on 22 coins; Pics 5-6: Longer die crack on 1 coin;
Weird that a collector would just turn these into the bank? They must be worth more than $0.25? I'll have to go back and look at the other 17 more closely.
Yes, die cracks--not terribly uncommon with quarters in that location. A crazed die crack collector might pay upwards of a dollar for a similar die crack.
Hum....well it sounds like I need to keep looking. At least the "W's" I've found are worth a little more than that. Maybe time to give up looking for die cracks and look for something else?
From the link you sent me, it appears almost all DD error examples on State Quarters are below the ear lobe. Hardly any other DD examples on these quarters. There must be more?
