I found a 2022 D Quarter with the last number 2 is different from the other 2s.
I though that it was twisted and the bottom was larger than the other.

I'm thinking that it took a hit in circulation that smashed the lower part of the 2.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

I'd say circulation flattening too. If you draw a line from the top of the 2, where it starts to flatten, thru the D that is also flattened it forms a straight line from something hitting in that area..

Agree with the post-strike damage assessment. It's customary to post full, large and sharp pics of the obverse and reverse. This would provide context to better understand what may be happening. Thanks.

You have a damaged quarter that has taken a hit slightly flattening the devices.
