1962 Lincoln Memorial Cent / LMC Plating Error?

Edit to add: (and lets add that the 1943 cent was a zinc plated steel cent) This looks like a bad stain/corrosion, or possibly something on the surface. Collecting since 1972. In 1943, the sheets of steel were zinc plate, THEN the blanks were stamped out - the edges are raw steel.
