Sacagawea And Presidential Golden Dollars In A Dansco

I recently purchased a blank album that helped sidestep OCD problems. I drives me nuts that the standard albums more often than not do not comply with my collecting endeavors. I bought two of my CAPS albums blank, and recently purchased the blank Dansco Nickels book.
In both cases, I have labeled the books using a good label maker. Small price to pay for sanity, and non-compliance.

I believe in a nutshell, I mean, don't let a publisher dictate what you collect.
Danso Lincoln Cents has holes for 1909-S VDB and 1922 plain. Those are two coins most collectors will never have, and the second one isn't even a legitimate US Coin, it is an error. Why do they put holes for these coins? I don't know, and I wish they wouldn't (but, where do you draw the line?). If a collector had coins like that, they would almost certainly buy them certified and slabbed, and would not break them out to put them in their Dansco book.

I like blank albums, depending on the series. However, once again, Dansco sometimes does idiotic things. Here's another observation I've made over time about their albums.

For example, in a scenario like this, if you wanted to do your own custom Sacagawea album out of their blank small dollar album... Well, I'm pretty sure that it would be extremely hard to fit every single Sacagawea dollar in there. The regular album alone, which doesn't include spots for the satin finish coins, is 7 pages long. This would easily bring it up to at least 8 pages.

Dansco's blank albums, despite the pages usually having a bit more room with more ports, really doesn't accommodate being able to add a ton of more pages. You could probably fit one comfortably.
You could, of course, buy a completely blank/empty binder, depending on the size you need, and then add whatever pages you think you need yourself, but this is an expensive endeavor with a lot of the time pages being between 10-20 dollars a piece.

That said, their actual blank albums work well for certain series of coins. My blank nickel album has worked splendid for my Jefferson nickels from 2006-current, for a fraction of a cost that the now unavailable official album is. Also, like others have noted, I was able to organize the album the way I want and added the satin finish coins right next to the business strike and proof coins, as well as having space for some of the odd varieties that aren't included in the album like the West Point minted coins, reverse proof coins, etc.

I personally think I will wait until the regular albums become available again, though, for the Sacagawea dollars.
I am considering for some series of coins in the future adding a label maker and just using custom albums
and completely organizing things how I want.

Another thing I'll note is the excessive empty ports in some of their albums, like the Lincoln cents series. Like, really? Is it necessary to have nearly half the page with empty ports? Lol.
I understand, though. It did used to bother me and felt like I had to have something there to fill the spots. Now I don't really care anymore honestly. At the end of my 8100 album, it's gonna be mostly empty.

Mine is a Brother P-Touch PT-D610BT. Yeah, it costs more than a basic label maker.
And I've gotta agree about it being pricey if labeling albums was all I used it for, but I knew I'd have other uses for it.

About labeling the spines, I bought a gold on clear tape just for that purpose. But, it's not perfect:

This tape was described as Gold on Clear, Matt. I have my doubts that glossy would look any better.

But for sure, you do what works for you!

You know what would be a good look?

Buy a gigantic sized Dansco empty binder, get some blank nickel pages, and then build and label your own set all the way from 1938-current.
You can put the proofs wherever you want, arrange however you want, and then label all as such, spanning from 1938 until now.
THAT would be crazy. I imagine it would also weigh quite a bit!

You wouldn't be able to do that in the blank nickel album, though. You'd have to buy an empty binder, which can be hand in various different sizes, and pages to it. I believe it can go up to 8-9 pages.

Nice labeling Vector - I have done the same with my Dansco albums, just not with the binder edges yet, but I have purchased the gold on cleat tape to experiment with,
