The detailed royal crown is a key dating clue. In British/Commonwealth royal insignia:Pre-1953 medals (George V/George VI eras) typically feature the Tudor crown (also called King's crown): a more ornate, arched design with visible inner cap and crosses pattee, often looking "detailed" or intricate in vintage pieces. Post-1953 (Queen Elizabeth II era onward) switched to the St Edward's crown (St. Edward's Crown): a simpler, more heraldic form used in modern British awards. This medal features the Tudor crown style, meaning the medal dates from before Queen Elizabeth. likely George VI period (1936-1952) or possibly late George V (1910-1936), but most plausibly 1940s to early 1950s.
