I'm going to preface this rant saying that this has probably been addressed before, but if so, I don't recall. Every year the mint seems to come out with a release that looks like it's going to be a quick sell-out. Release dates are on a Thursday at 12 p.m. ET. (Here comes my gripe.) This seems to be preferential treatment for the East/"Right" Coast. East Coasters have just begun their lunch hour while the rest of us working stiffs are in the midst of our work day. Could they not schedule releases for the weekend, or better yet at say 9 p.m. PT, so those of us on the left/"wrong" coast could get some reciprocity? I realize this is a no-win situation for the mint, as someone is always going to be unhappy. By the way, none of this applies to me as I'm 75, retired, and somewhat of a crotchety old man who enjoys complaining. (Hey, you kids, get off of my lawn!)

I'm still annoyed I didn't get in for one of those V75 double eagles.

Rant on! But it seems the Mint is just doing what everyone else does. A live event is either too early for the west coast or too late for the east.

You could always move to the East Coast. Millions are these days, just saying....

For what it is worth, weekends would be worse for me. I usually unplug, so I would have probably missed all the non-subscription pruchases of the past.

In terms of "why", I'd assume it's because the Mint's HQ is in Washington. So any official pronouncements, press releases, product launches and press conferences are happening at Washington time and to match the Eastern Time news cycle. I doubt anyone is thinking about the "fairness" or otherwise of this arrangement in terms of people in non-eastern timezones, and I definitely doubt the willingness of anyone at Mint HQ to stay behind after work just to launch a product later in the day.

why indeed , but then you'd never get into to their site ... it's convenient for the those buyers who latter are seen on the secondary hawking their ill begotten gains & the Dealers who have slabbed those coins and selling them at e bay .
