Texas was an independent republic from 1836-1845. It was mostly a "nation" of farmers and ranchers with little money, lots of problems, and constant military threats from Mexico. They issued several series of paper money and bonds to help finance the Republic of Texas Navy and other government debt. I started collecting the stuff back in the 70's and really got into the history it represented. I've sold off most of what I had, but I scanned everything so I could enjoy it while it lived in the safe deposit box. Here are a few examples.
