I'm having trouble really capturing the surface on this properly, but it's approaching mirror-like, especially the reverse. It's not, but I think it's almost certainly the highest-grade Bison I've laid hands on. There's a peculiar raised bit on the rim from 6:00-8:30 on the obverse. Not sure what that's about. Maybe some kind of lamination thing? It doesn't really show well in this photo. I'll try and get a better one.

While the weak LIBERTY is unfortunate, what do you make the condition based on photos?

I like this Buffalo nickel, which you have presented to us Buffalo soldier.
My opinion on grade: AU58 (from the many nicks, this coin to me looks circulated)..
As for weak 'LIBERTY', flatness and rise rim in some areas, that's normal with these coins...
The tail on the buffalo looks ?

I'll say very high AU or MS. The obverse might be weakly struck on the high points.
