I recently upgraded a 1930s-S walker in my collection. I found my upgraded coin has much more of a satin type look vs that blinding cartwheel luster you see on a lot of coins.

I did some research and it appears when a die is fresh without "flow lines", the coins often have more of a satin look. The walker I obtained looks similar to the finish on the newer Peace dollars. I guess I didn't realize some of the older coins such as my walker from the 30s can also have the satin look if the dies were fresh. I thought that only happened with newer coins. Booming luster happens when the die is more deteriorated. Is my understanding correct?
