I get it now, from the pictures I could not see the gold on the obverse
it looked more blueish silver.
If it is totally gold toned both sides then it was gold plated as a novelty.

That is one thing I have learned about Ike's in the last couple of
years of studying them.
You never know about them until you do the research it it.
Or ask about it.
There are a great number of discoveries being made over the last few years. Because there has been no real dedicated research and study of the series up until recently. If you do get interested in the Eisenhower dollar Series here is a link to THE Site for
Eisenhower dollar research and discovery
http://www.ikegroup.org/

This is Ground Zero for Ike research on the planet.

Terry:

Wow! ,I really like the different coloration on that 71!

Almost lools like a 3D Reverse.

*Regarding bags, this weeks haul totals: Dudsville!
Nothing special.

Try again next week, although I did manage to win 2 more Ike's on ebay

I'll post pics after they arrive in the mail.

1 Hint- They are both "Peg Legs!"

Beautiful 72D

What grade? It looks like it would be a very high MS

It looks like something going on thru the middle of DOLLAR.

Any die clashes? Is it a Volunteer?

Update on the 71D FEV DDO / DDR.

Dr Wiles has the coin

He said he will be taking pics of the coin this coming week.

Looks promising (IMHO) as a new listing on CONECA.

I'll let you know when I hear anything new.

Chuck,
I am keeping my fingers crossed for your new Variety
I hope it works out.

The 1972-D I think it would probably go MS-66 on a good day at the
TPG. My own personal Grading is MS-65. She is quite clean for a 72-D
and I am more of a technical grader.
From what I see on the coin in hand it looks like a Moon Line Die Clash
on the reverse. But the position seems too close to the edge for that.
I want to discuss it with Rob Ezerman before I make a final desision
on it. We were discussing a while back the movement of dies during
the striking process. And the fact that there is side to side movement
of the dies, which might account for the Moon Line being closer to the edge of the coin.
Here is a link to the discussion, Learned something very cool that day.

Thanks Terry:

Very interesting article.

Something is definitely going on by Dollar- I was also going to say moon-line clash but I also agree, it looks too low to be that.

Looking forward to see what Rob has to say about it.

Good luck!

Latest purchase.

Picked this up last night on ebay for a little over $17.00

It's listed at around $50.00 on the PCGS Price guide.

1971S PR69 DCAM (PCGS)

Chuck,
Very nice pick up 71 S Proof
That earth looks frosted like crazy or ?
Really hard to see any details of the earth even with the blow up I did of the coin.
Going to be interesting to see the coin after you get it in your hands and your able to photograph it.
It is most likely just the way the seller shot the coin,
but that earth sure got my attention. What with Lee and Chatham's coins
If you want the blow-ups let me know I'll e-mail them.

Thanks for the pics Terry!

Just have to wait and see what it looks like as it's still too much of a blur.

What do you think that might be on Ike's temple area?

Die chip? Hope it isn't damage! Maybe its just camera angle and nothing.

Here is one of the 2 "PEG LEG" coins I mentioned earlier.

I just got this in the mail this afternoon!

1971 S FS 401 "PEG LEG" ANACS MS-64

I won it on E-bay a few days ago for $66.00

I figured I might as well try and purchase one as I seriously doubt I'll find one without having to keep purchasing " 1971S Blue Ike's" forever in the hopes of nailing one of these!

Chuck,
Big Congrats on the 401

The area around the temple when I adjusted the levels
just to take a look at details and it looks like
something on the slab personally. I hope anyway. ( I have seen it before in my shots of coins.)
