However, a high grade AU/BU coin without luster really really bothers me, and I would much rather have a lower grade. Your coin is quite nice. Definitely dipped/lightly cleaned; but I think a month or two in the windowsill will bring the surfaces back to life. Report this Post to the Staff

Jaobler Pillar of the Community United States 6396 Posts	Posted 03/12/2010 12:22 pm It was probably AU-58 before the dip, which was possibly a misguided attempt to give it a BU look. Still, it looks pretty nice and after a period of retoning it should acquire a more natural appearance. The windowsill suggestion might be worth a try! For comparison, here is my example of this date, graded AU-55 by ANACS. Your coin shows less wear on the high points so I think it would be solid for an AU-58 details grade.
