On October 7th at high noon the gold eagle proofs will go on sale and I'm thinking I might buy. I looked on ebay to see what the 2008 proofs were going for (there were no proofs in 2009). Judging by the mintage limits, 27,000 for the 1/10oz for example, I think their value will be comparable to the 08s which recently sold for between $220-$250. I would have to see what their price is before I make a decision. Who knows, they all might sell out before I can checkout.

Is anyone else planning to buy? Which denomination(s)?

PS This is my virginal post...thank you sir, may I have another?

Eastwood! Are you by chance related to Clint?

Gosh with gold prices so high right now I think I'm going to pass but don't get me wrong; I'm always looking for a flipper's delight.

The 1/10oz pieces will be $185/ea delivered and a 4-pc. set will approach $3K. If you want one for your collection, by all means go for it but remember the prices we saw a year ago were based on the fact the none were being made at the time (speculation).

Numismatist Axiom Number 1.

The coins you do not purchase will always have the highest price increase potential.

Always.

For $200 I'd buy a 1/10th proof and bet on low mintage demand. If I can sell it for a 25+% profit in two years I'd be happy.
