Was a variety firmly established on your coin? Did you have it attributed at PCGS? The values on these are all over the place in XF. Some as low as $350 and some approaching $1500.

When I sent it I did not have it checked for a variety. I was told that it wouldn't make a difference on value. After it returns I will rescan and post new pictures. Thanks BH

It is O-102 (R-1).
That is not graffiti above the eagle's head.... those are denticle impressions, and they are supposed to be there..... they are on all examples of this variety.

the coin is going to be worth more in a slab without the variety mentioned (since it is a very common variety). If it was a rare variety, then the attribution on the label would be a plus....

Wow man! That is a beautiful coin! My 1826 bust half wouldn't stand a chance against that 1809! Great find! I would grade AU-54

No offense ufans, I didn't read back through all the posts.

So, if this is a common variety then CoinFacts auction results puts it's value around $450-$500 in XF45.

w1a9c8k5,
Even though you may be disappointed that it didn't grade QUITE as high as you'd hoped, you have to admit it's a beautiful coin, and think about someone carrying it around as pocket change 200 years ago; that's pretty amazing, and isn't that why we enjoy having these?
