I like both. For the really nice stuff, I buy it from a dealer, ebay, or even garage sales. But I like to search through rolls too, and that is where I find my silver quarters, nickels, dimes, and 40% Kennedy halves
Actually both. For the common coins like the Roosevelts, quarters, etc. I go through my pocket change and rolls to upgrade what I have or fill holes. For the coins you don't see in circulation anymore, I buy. Spend a lot of time on ebay just drooling!
DO you guys get more satisfaction buy collecting your coins out of circulation or buying them?
I get enormous satisfaction from finding coins in circulation. It's a thrill whenever you find something that you have been searching for, especially when you've given up on ever getting one! However, I also love buying coins, as there is nothing like owning a coin that cannot be found in circulation. I especially love whenever I'm able to buy a silver 1oz coin - that just makes my day complete.
